The Heddlu Gwent Police in Wales produced an extremely graphic public service announcement (PSA) video that dramatizes the possible fatal consequences of texting while driving. The realistic PSA video shows passengers being thrown about the vehicles resulting in four fatalities, including an infant, after a teenage driver loses control of her vehicle as she was texting while driving. The Heddlu Gwent Police intended this video to be shown primarily to students in Wales but wants to ultimately scare drivers from texting while driving. But will it work?
There is a great debate on the Internet since the release of this PSA video that it may be too graphic. However, does it take realistic images in this desensitized society to effectively modify behavior that has become a global epidemic on our roads that kills thousands per year in the United States alone?
