Motorcycle Airbag Jacket May Reduce Injuries in a Crash
When airbags were introduced in the automotive industry, skeptics quickly offered their opinions against the safety device. The same is apparently happening for a motorcycle safety device called a motorcycle airbag jacket. Although the motorcycle airbag jacket has not been actively tested and its effectiveness has not been rated, survivors of motorcycle accidents that were wearing the motorcycle airbag jacket believe it saved their life.
WebBikeWorld.com took a look at the motorcycle airbag jacket which is designed to provide protection to the chest, back, and neck and discussed how the device is actually used. Apparently, the airbag is embedded inside a jacket or vest that is connected to the bike by a ripcord. When the rider is ejected from the bike, the ripcord disconnects from the jacket or vest triggering the airbag to inflate before the rider strikes the ground.
There are several companies around the world that manufacture motorcycle air bag jackets providing an array of choices. Since motorcycle air bag jackets have not be thoroughly tested for effectiveness and do not appear to be regulated, you should investigate all models available on the market as well as published reviews of owners of these devices before you consider purchasing one.
